The Rev. Dr. John Sandel is an ordained Presbyterian Minister and a Fellow in the American Association of Pastoral Counselors (AAPC). He is licensed by the State of Connecticut as a Professional Counselor. He is active in several professional associations including AAPC, the Connecticut Counseling Association and the American Psychological Association (Div. 39). Since founding the Center in 1981 he has come to believe that the uniqueness of each human life is to be found finally in meaning over mechanism, soul over molecule, narrative over behavior. Themes of gratitude, forgiveness, hope, and reconciliation are important to his work.

The Rev. Allie Perry is a Fellow in the American Association of Pastoral Counselors. She holds graduate degrees from Harvard University, Yale Divinity School, and Andover Newton Theological School. An ordained minister of the United Church of Christ, she has served congregations in the New Haven area. She has been an adjunct counselor at the Pastoral Counseling Center Of West Hartford, CT. She is currently a visiting instructor in Psychology and Pastoral Theology at Andover Newton Theological School, Newton, MA. and an adjunct faculty member at Yale University Divinity School. She is especially interested in the broad issues of justice and peace, particularly in how those issues appear in the lives of women and families, and draws on the insight of feminist and narrative therapy.

Dr. James Phillips is a psychiatrist with a general community practice and a special interest in forensic psychiatry. A graduate of the University of Illinois Medical School, he completed his residency at Yale University Medical School. He is a Fellow in the American Psychiatric Association and holds an appointment as an Associate Clinical Professor at Yale where he supervises residents in psychiatry. Active in various professional associations, he has published papers on the work of Sartre, Merleau-Ponty, Lacan, and others. A former Peace Corp volunteer in Africa, his current interest is in providing clinical services and fundraising for the Archdiocesan Health Clinic of Ayacucho, Peru (www.ayacuchomentalhealth.org).
